We’re a top 50 UK University

Portsmouth has been ranked as one of the UK’s top 50 universities in two nationally and internationally recognised league tables.

Portsmouth was placed 50th of all UK universities in the The QS World University Ranking and at 502 in the world, rising over 200 places from a position of 701-750 in last year’s Rankings. The QS World University Ranking, produced by global higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds, relies heavily on reputation surveys conducted with academics and employers, plus research metrics including citations.

Portsmouth also recently reclaimed its top 50 place in this year’s Complete University Guide, being ranked 47th, up 22 places from 69th in last year’s league table. This position reflected a major increase in student satisfaction, where the University is now ranked 35th in the UK - confirming its commitment to ensuring that every student has a life-changing experience with Portsmouth.

Professor Graham Galbraith, Vice-Chancellor, said: “Our excellent performance in these internationally recognised and important league tables demonstrates our continued progress towards our long-term ambition to be the top modern UK university and in the top 100 young universities in the world by the end of the decade.”

If your organisation has supported us with sustainability, research and innovation, or employed our students - then you helped us get there!
