Hide AdCouncillor Rob Humby, executive member for economy, transport and environment at Hampshire County Council, which employs the county’s lollipop people, said: ‘I’d like to thank Brenda for her dedication and service to her local community for the past 30 years, helping generations of children at Mill Rythe School in her role as a school crossing patrol officer; and I wish her well in her retirement.’
Parent Hannah Hanscombe said: ‘Her warm and friendly smile has greeted thousands of children over the years.
‘She safely crossed my husband over the road when he attended the school 20-odd years ago and she crossed my children safely too.
‘She was the first cheery face that mums, dads and children saw in the morning. Every single morning. Mrs Jackson has been a constant that the Mill Rythe Schools have been incredibly lucky to have.’

Hide AdHampshire County Council said it will now assess the site to see if a replacement is needed.
Cllr Humby added: ‘When one of our school crossing patrol officers leaves or retires, our team will survey the site to ensure it continues to meet the criteria within current guidelines issued by Road Safety GB so that we can make sure resources are directed where they are most needed.
‘Our team will be surveying the school site once national Covid restrictions allow and children return to school.’
