HUNDREDS of balloons were released by the family and friends of a teenager who died of cancer.

People gathered on the top of Portsdown Hill on February 4 to release the balloons on what would have been the 15th birthday of Katie Scannell, from Crookhorn.

The day was also World Cancer Day.

Her mum Michelle said: ‘It was overwhelming to see the pictures of so many people.

‘It was a lovely gesture by all her friends and our family. it was wonderful.’
