Man from Hampshire village charged with £20,000 fraud against golf club

The former head professional at the Royal Winchester Golf Club, Steven Hunter, has been charged with fraud by abuse of position, and theft by employee.
It is also alleged that Hunter, 53, from Mill Lane in Abbots Worthy, benefitted from up to £20,000 from funds raised at two charity Pro-Am events held in memory of a longstanding club member.

Hide AdA spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Hunter worked as head professional at the golf club, and was responsible for running the shop and the collection of green fee income at the club.
‘He is next due to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates Court on April 15.’
