Employees at housing association raise £15,000 for charity
First Wessex has raised £15,000 for Cancer Research UK and for local charities Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Parents Action Group.
Over the past 12 months, the Hampshire-based housing association has been working hard to recycle scrap metal from repairs, installations and empty homes.

Hide AdThe money raised will be split so each charity gets £5,000.
Staff from Portsmouth all entered into an open ballot to nominate charities that were close to their hearts and Parents Action Group, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Cancer Research UK came out top.
First Wessex regularly donates thousands of pounds to charities through various means including recycling scrap metal, monthly staff ‘dress down’ days and cycle rides.
Peter Walters, chief executive, says: ‘I am so thrilled that we have been able to support these fantastic causes.

Staff chose Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as many of their family and friends who received end of life care have been supported there.
Georgi Robinson-Welch, corporate partnerships manager at the hospice, said: ‘We are so grateful to First Wessex for its support.’

The £5,000 raised for Cancer Research UK will go towards funding for scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer and save lives.
