Hampshire pair Scott Currie and Oli Soames starred as Dorset claimed back-to-back wins in a T20 double header against Wiltshire at the South Wilts club in Salisbury.

All-rounder Currie, in his first season on Hampshire’s staff, took 4-13 to dismiss their hosts in the first match.

The 19-year-old had been named in Hampshire’s 12-man squad for the Bob Willis Trophy tie with Surrey at Arundel, but was the unlucky person to miss out on what would have been a first class debut.

Opening the bowling alongside his elder brother Brad, Scott - who played for England in the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year - claimed all the wickets as Wiltshire slipped to 20-3.

Among his victims was opener Jake Goodwin, who made one Hampshire 1st XI appearance in a T20 win against Somerset in 2016 prior to being released the following year.

Soames - with 10 Championship games for Hampshire in 2018 and 2019 to his name - had earlier top scored with 51 as Dorset made 125-5 from their 20 overs.

In the second game, Scott Currie took 2-32 as Wiltshire recovered from 68-8 to finish on 119-8.

Former Hampshire all-rounder Matt Coles impressed as Bedfordshire thrashed Hertfordshire by eight wickets in a 45-over friendly at Dunstable.

Coles, 30, spent two summers at The Ageas Bowl (2013-14) either side of spells with Kent. He later played for Essex and was on loan to Northants last year before his Chelmsford contract expired.

Coles bagged 3-15 in seven overs as Hertfordshire were dismissed for just 90 in 25.2 overs.
