Danny Cowley said Pompey’s ability to sell out their allocation of away tickets for next month’s FA Cup trip to Spurs in double-quick time was never in doubt.

And he believes those 8,880 travelling fans lucky to be attending will no doubt make their presence felt – despite being hugely outnumbered in the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Blues supporters were quick to snap up all available seats for the game, which went on sale at the start of this week.

Monday and Tuesday was reserved for those fans with 10-plus loyalty points, before season-ticket holders were given their chance to attend when their place in the queue opened on Wednesday.

All remaining tickets were sold within an hour, though, prompting Pompey to request more.

And while Cowley is disappointed with that decision, he still believes the Blues support that day will only enhance the atmosphere up in north London.

He said: ‘It’s fantastic we’ve sold out.

‘Someone told me it was in nine minutes (on Wednesday). It’s great to sell our allocation - though I didn’t think for a second we wouldn’t.

‘I believe we tried to get some more tickets.

‘It’s sad we can’t have more supporters with us, because I know there would be a lot more who would like to come.

‘But I know the ones who do come will be super noisy.

‘It doesn’t matter how outnumbered we are at Tottenham, I’m sure we’ll hold our own on the terraces.’

The game, which takes place on Saturday, January 7, has a 12.30pm kick-off.

So to help fans make their way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the club have arranged with Lucketts Travel to have an increased number of official supporter coaches available.
